Preparing for Loss of Coverage

It’s important to know how your benefits are impacted by loss of coverage or termination and to plan accordingly. If your employment status has changed and you are no longer eligible for benefits, if you’re planning for a leave of absence, or if your employment has been terminated, the information on this page will help you to prepare.

Know When to Take Action

Some APTIM benefits require that you take action when you lose eligibility. You can verify your enrollment information at any time by logging on to the APTIM Benefits Marketplace website at digital.alight.com/aptim. From the homepage, click the “Your Insurance Coverage” quick action from the left-hand menu.

If you were enrolled in…

Medical, Dental, Vision: You will receive COBRA documents that provide information for electing continuation services under COBRA. You will have 60 days to make your COBRA elections from the time of your eligibility status change.

Notice regarding TX Senate bill 51: It is important to note that, under this legislation, your coverage will terminate at the end of the month that the carrier receives your termination information. Please reach out to the APTIM Benefits Marketplace with any questions or concerns related to your coverage termination under this rule.
Life (Self, Spouse, Child) and Disability (Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability) Insurance: You will receive information from New York Life regarding portability and conversion options for your coverage. If you choose to take advantage of portability and conversion, keep in mind that your response to New York Life is time-sensitive. You must respond by the deadline in the letter you receive from New York Life. Please contact New York Life with any questions or concerns regarding your deadline to submit forms.

Health Care, Dependent Care, or Limited Purpose Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA, DCFSA, or LPFSA): You have until the plan year run-out date (March 31 of the following year) to file claims for expenses incurred during your period of active benefits coverage. Log on to the APTIM Benefits Marketplace website at digital.alight.com/aptim to access your Alight Smart-Choice Accounts profile and file a claim.

Health Savings Account (HSA) through Bank of America: Your account will move out from under the APTIM group and into an individual HSA for Life. You will receive a letter and new HSA card from Bank of America.

Your coverage in all other elected APTIM benefits will terminate at 11:59 p.m. local time on your separation date or your last day of benefits eligibility.
